Privacy policy

Last updated:

This policy describes the current WebCam-Mic-Tester website at webcammic.com, operated under the name WebCam-Mic-Tester. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

Your camera and microphone media

Camera previews, microphone level analysis, recordings, and snapshots are processed locally in your browser. The tester does not upload this media to our server, publish it, or use it to create an account or advertising profile.

Your browser asks for camera or microphone permission when you enable a device. You can turn devices off in the tester or revoke permission through your browser's site settings. The browser manages its own permission records.

Recordings, downloads, and retention

Recordings remain in browser memory until discarded, replaced, or cleared when you leave or reload the page. They are not a cloud backup. A browser or device failure can lose an unsaved recording.

If you download a recording or snapshot, your browser saves a file to your device. That file and any browser download history remain under your control; the tester does not delete them. If you later email or share a file, that separate action may send it through another service.

Local storage and cookies

The app stores your theme choice in local storage using the key webcam-mic-tester-theme. It has no automatic expiry and can be removed by clearing this site's browser data. Camera media, microphone media, and device selections are not saved to local storage.

On the production website, Google Analytics may set analytics cookies, such as _ga and property-specific _ga_* cookies, and use browser storage. The tester does not include advertising scripts or external fonts. Hosting and security services also have their own data-processing practices.

Automatic Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4, using measurement ID G-Y62Z825LE5, loads automatically on HTTPS visits to webcammic.com and www.webcammic.com. This version does not show an opt-in analytics consent banner. Analytics is not loaded by our integration on local development addresses or Cloudflare Pages preview domains.

Analytics helps us understand website visits and usage. Google may process page information, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, interactions enabled in the Analytics property, and network information such as the IP address used to connect to its servers. Our integration removes query strings and fragments from the page and referrer URLs it explicitly supplies, and disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals.

We do not configure Analytics to receive camera video, microphone audio, recordings, snapshots, or device labels. Do not include personal or sensitive information in URLs. Google Analytics is a third-party service; its cookies, collection, and retention also depend on the Analytics property settings and Google's policies.

Read how Google uses information from sites using its services and Google's privacy policy. You can use browser tracking protections or Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Blocking or clearing cookies alone may not prevent every network request. Contact us with questions about this site's analytics use.

Website hosting and technical requests

The website is delivered using Cloudflare Pages. Loading a page necessarily sends request information, such as your IP address, requested URL, and browser information, to the hosting service. Cloudflare may process this information for delivery, security, and service operation.

Hosting data handling and retention depend on the service configuration and provider policy; this page does not promise a fixed deletion period for provider-managed logs. Read Cloudflare's privacy policy for its practices. The tester's local media is separate from these website requests.

If you contact us

If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to address your request and related follow-up. Contact messages may be retained while a request is being handled or where needed for legitimate operational or legal reasons.

Do not send passwords, account tokens, or unnecessary recordings. Ask us about access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent. Rights and obligations may depend on the laws that apply to you. We cannot retrieve or erase recordings stored only on your device.

Changes and questions

We may update this policy when the website or its data practices change. The date above identifies the current version. If you believe information about a child has been sent to us inappropriately, or you have another privacy concern, use our contact page.
